Performance, Tuning & Modified Show 2007 Report
The first Performance, Tuning & Modified Show at Santa Pod Raceway on 5th - 6th May 2007 saw some great action on and off the track.
The first day of PTM Show got under way with the cream of Eastern and European cars taking to the strip with a storming 8.357s @ 164.86mph from Tim Webster, followed by an 8.545s @ 160.04mph from Andy Barnes, both driving Nissan skylines.
On the Sunday the track time was split between RWYB sessions and the HKS Drag Series for Japanese Cars with good times being run by both groups.
There were also plenty of demo vehicles on the track with The Fireforce Jet Car, Top Methanol Dragster, Pro Mod, Top Fuel Bike, Pro Stock Bike, Funny Bike and The crazey Taz team with their tyre smoking, wheeling fiat 500s all impressing the crowds.
Off track action included the live stage with dancers and DJs plus the Miss PTM competition which was won Kelly Botterill, drifting, EMMA Sound Off and pole dancing. The Best Club Stand award went to SIDC who had nice cars nicely parked.
Show & Shine
There was a good turn out in the Meguiar's Show & Shine paddock with the following cars picking up the awards.
Best of Show – Richard Hilton – Honda Civic
Ric’s stunning Civic stood out amongst the Show & Shine entries, with its deep polished brown paint job over uniquely modified and sculptured body panels. The list of modifications to this car goes on and on, but to pick a few: hydraulic suspension letting the car move up and down, side to side, and sit literally millimetres from the floor, a custom exhaust system with the Honda badge incorporated into the design, a Mazda 6 headlight conversion, fully smoothed bodywork with all handles, locks, and recesses removed and flushed as well as the rear lights removed and smoothed over, custom fuel cap built into the wide arches, custom spoiler housing the relocated rear lights, automated rear number plate which comes up from the rear bumper, fully smoothed dash with Dakota dials relocated to the centre with a touch screen TV moulded in, and a Momo steering wheel with a PSP custom mounted. This car also packs a punch, with 12 Vibe 10” subs mounted in a wall behind the front seats. On the day, this car was a very worthy winner of the Best of Show prize. |

Best Wheels – Ali Veal - Peugeot 106 Quick Silver
Ali’s immaculate dark grey 106 had the best wheels of the show. Cleaned and polished to a gleaming finish, these 17” TSW Black Ice alloys wrapped in low profile rubber really looked the part under the bouncing arches of the hydraulic pug. |

Best ICE - Aaron Heatley – Vauxhall Corsa
Aaron’s silver Corsa had an ICE install to be proud of. The rear of the car is completely stripped out and replaced with an impressive install, consisting of 2 subs, components, and tweeters symmetrically placed in a fibreglass build. A moving cover surrounded 3 amps used to power the system; this was finished in carbon fibre effect with a window to view each amp. The boot install was finished with two large screens mounted in carbon fibre effect, sitting neatly at the front of the boot. Even the boot lid had component speakers mounted in it. In the front of the Corsa, Aaron has fitted a roof mounted flip down TV screen, as well as a motorised TV head unit in the dash. The doors had not been left either, with a screen mounted in each door and even more components. |

Best Paint – Tony Nelson – Ford Fiesta Zetec S
Tony’s mad Fiesta had a body kit that he designed himself on paper, and he chose the perfect paint job to go with it. A two tone design with the bottom half a metallic silver moondust, blended into a sky blue upper half with custom airbrushing. |

Best Interior – Chris Woodman – Peugeot 206
Chris’ Eccosse kitted 206 won a very closely contested prize, with an interior that had practically nothing left standard. Everything was either trimmed in red and cream leather (including front and rear seats), or smoothed and coated in matching red and cream paint (including the dash, pillars, and every other piece of trim). The ICE install was also painted to match, with a custom build and door cards. |

Best Engine – Craig Mudd – Subaru Impreza WRX
Craig’s turbo charged Impreza had an spotless engine bay, with polished boost and hard pipes, Samco red hoses used wherever possible, a polished strut brace, polished caps, polished Forge tanks, and a 3” downpipe and decat. The engine also included Perrin Motorsport front mount, short shift, ram induction, and dump valve, as well as an ecutec remap. |
